Hanford Sentinel, The (CA) - Tuesday, May 2, 2006 Deceased Name: Nancy Ellen Carr Nancy Ellen Carr of Hanford passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Friday, April 28, 2006. Nancy was born to Paul and Ruby McCart in Reno, Nev., Nov. 25, 1920. Nancy met and married her college sweetheart and husband, Dr. Harold Day Carr, while attending the College of the Sequoias. Nancy loved traveling to see family and friends. She was an avid camper and bird watcher, combining these two hobbies with her photography talents made for many lovely photos of her journeys. She enjoyed her garden, tending to her roses and sweet peas. She was a prolific quilter and made it a point to give each of her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren hand made quilts. Nancy will be fondly remembered as a person who could never drive by a yard sale without stopping. She is survived by her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Paul J. McCart Jr.; and her six daughters and their spouses, Nancy Millet and husband Jim of Prescott, Ariz., Kathleen Carr of Grass Valley, Susan and Richard Avila of Hanford, Janice and Rene Hanavan of Hanford, Beatrice Smith of Visalia and Debra and Alan Duffin of Visalia; as well as seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren living throughout the United States. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sisters Neva Hall and Beatrice Ogden. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Hanford Cemetery. Remembrances may be sent to the Kings Art Center, 605 N. Douty St., Hanford, CA 93230 and/or the Kings County SPCA, 8084 Lacey Blvd., Hanford, CA 93230. Arrangements are under the direction of Whitehurst-McNamara Funeral Services Chapel in Hanford.
