September 12, 2013
YAKIMA, Wash. — Aloha Gean Harvey was born Oct. 1, 1920 in Salmon to K.E. and Lucille Powell Brown. Aloha Gean had one brother, Kenneth Brown.
She rode her horse Runt to the one-room school house on Lee Creek. She graduated from Leadore High School in 1938. She was raised and went to school there until she met Urban Kluesner. They eloped and got married Oct. 6, 1940 in Dillon, Mont.
Aloha Gean was going to beauty school and Urban was breaking horses when they eloped. They moved to Blackfoot when they started to raise a family. They had four children - James Walter (Sharon) Kluesner, Dorothy Jean Morrison, Rita Rose Bassman (Rob) and Martha Ayn Kluesner. They lived in Leadore at The Homestead Ranch during the Great Depression. She enjoyed raising her children, sewing, helping her husband on the farm baling hay and lots of other duties that come with having a ranch.
She was a rodeo queen in Soda Springs and at multiple other rodeos.
On Jan. 2, 1985, her husband Urban passed away. She was then introduced to her new husband Carl Harvey at a T-ball game by one of their daughters on both sides. They went to dinner and hit it off really well. They got married April 22, 1988 and she received 5 more children into her life, Cherie Huffines (Wayland), Larry Harvey, Angie Tabares (Steve), Bobby Harvey (Debbie), and Tammy Harvey Sanchez (Ruben). She has 18 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Aloha Gean was preceded in death by her parents, brother Urban Kluesner and great-grandchild Dallas Ann Devolve. Per her request there will be no funeral services. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to Susan Komen Breast Cancer Foundation is suggested.
