The burial plot is situated some distance southwest of the house on the river flats under a large oak tree. Two unlettered fieldstones. Site visited August 28, 1967. This was the family burial ground of Nicholas S. Van Patten. His obituary, published in "The Schenectady Cabinet", Wednesday, July 15, 1829 reads as follows:
  "DIED - - In Glenville, on Wednesday last, MR. NICHOLAS VAN PATTEN, an old and respectable citizen of that town, in the 80th year of his age".
  His son, John N. Van Patten, inherited the farm and members of his family are said to be buried where the garage on the Jeffers property now stands. The farm passed out of the Van Patten family in 1848.¹
