Mary Belle Carpenter died before 1932. Her father's will, dated June 3 1932, leaves a portion of his estate to the children of his late daughter Mary Belle Rainey. Also, Allen Rainey, her husband got married in Iowa in 1909. I found no divorce records so it's possible she died prior to 1908. I haven't found any records regarding her death or divorce.

An Ada Smith appears with Earl Smith on the 1940 US Census and Earl Smith's death cerficiate dated May 13th 1946 indicates he is married to Ada Taylor Smith so I don't know what the real story is.
