Ruth Green1

F, #10301, d. July 1710
Relationship8th great-grandmother of Ralph Page
ChartsPedigree Chart - Ralph Page
Information in the NEHGS Register indicates that Ruth Green was the sister of John and Henry Rolfe. The author indicates that Ruth's brother John arrived on the ship Confidence with wife Ann, daughter Ester and servant Thomas Whittier. The wills of the brothers refer to their sister that married Thomas Whittier. So we don't know if she was a half-sister or possibly a widow (Green) prior to her marriage to Thomas Whittier.
Charles Collyer Whittier (source 2458) indicates the persons in John Rolfe's will were actually Thomas' brothers rather than his children based on finding a record of Mary Rolfe's marriage to Richard Whittier, making her Thomas' mother.2,3 Ruth Green also may be Ruth Rolfe. The wills of John and Henry Rolfe reference their sister married to Thomas Whittier. There is some dispute over this.4,3 The ethnicity of Ruth Green was English. She married Thomas Whittier, son of Richard Whittier and Mary Rolfe, before 1647 in Salisbury, Essex, Massachusetts, USA.1,5 She was buried after 1710 in Whittier Family Cemetery, Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts, USA.6 She died in July 1710 in Haverhill, Essex, Massachusetts, USA.7,8
