MIlitary Service

William G Adams Jr served for the Union during the Civil War between 1861 and 1862. He was commissioned a Captain in the Union Army. He was shot and killed by snipers. Note: I have not yet found any confirmation of this data in on-line Civil War records. His headstone indicates he was in the 39th Kentucky Regiment but the first record of action for the 39th Regiment was in November of 1862, after William was reported killed.3
