Lolis Sallie Forrester Beane, a lifelong Northumberland County resident, died yesterday after a long illness. She was 100.
Mrs. Beane had been the oldest living member of the Providence Baptist Church at Miskimon and was a former postmaster in the Northumberland village. She had been instrumental for decades in church work and was a leader of the Women's Missionary Society as well as other men's and women's groups in the church.
She was a longtime Sunday school teacher there and a choir member.
Mrs. Beane was the widow of James Walker and T. Stockton Beane, whom she married after Mr. Walker's death.
Survivors include five step-grandchildren.
There will be a funeral at 4 p.m. Sunday at Jones-Ash Funeral Home in Raineswood with burial at Providence Baptist Church cemetery.
Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
